Villa player ratings: Sheffield Wednesday (A)

Aston Villa made it six wins in a row thanks to a 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Dean Smith’s men started off on the front foot, but they found themselves behind in just the 7th minute when Gareth Hooper found the bottom corner after a magnificent cross from George Boyd.

Villa didn’t let their heads drop though, and they were level just fifteen minutes later when John McGinn swept home on the half-volley.

Neither team could find a goal before half-time, so they went in all square at the break – probably a fair reflection on the game.

The Owls started the second-half the brighter of the two teams and they had the chance to take the lead in the 57th minute when Tyrone Mings brought down Steven Fletcher in the box.

The former Scotland international brushed himself down only to see his penalty saved by Jed Steer.

With 90 minutes up and just injury time left to play, it looked like it would finish in a draw.

However, goals from Albert Adomah and Tammy Abraham in the 92nd and 94th minute, sealed all three points for Villa.
