Norwich City were crowned champions at Villa Park thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
Despite the loss, Dean Smith will be happy with what he saw as his side, which was missing Tyrone Mings, John McGinn, Jack Grealish, Ahmed Elmohamady, and Anwar El Ghazi, gave the league winners a very good game.
Norwich started the game on the front foot and took the lead in just the 7th minute when Teemu Pukki tapped the ball home from close range.
However, Smith’s second string team grew into the game and found themselves level just seven minutes later when Jonathan Kodjia flicked the ball past Tim Krul following a great free-kick from Conor Hourihane.
Both teams had great chances to go in at the break with a slender lead, but they went in all square at half-time.
The second 45 minutes was a pretty even affair and it looked like the game was going to peter out in a draw, but Mario Vrancic found the back of the net from about 20 yards with just four minutes or so of normal time left.
Norwich City can now enjoy their summer holiday as champions, while Smith and his men will be preparing for their huge play-off semi final against West Brom.
