Aston Villa vs West Bromwich Albion: Combined XI

It’ll be an all West Midlands affair in the first of the Championship playoff semi-finals, with Aston Villa taking on neighbours West Bromwich Albion.

Villa will be hoping to avenge defeat in last season’s playoff final, after going down 1-0 to the recently relegated Fulham.

Albion will be looking to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, having been relegated to the Championship last season after a torrid season in the top flight.

Villa stumbled out of the blocks this season, before sacking Steve Bruce and bringing in Dean Smith from Brentford.

Smith revitalised Villa’s season, and an impressive unbeaten run has seen Villa finish in fifth position in the table.

Albion meanwhile have seemingly had the reverse of Villa’s season.

Darren Moore led Albion to a good start under his reign, but defeats to Leeds United and Sheffield United saw Moore sacked as boss, with James Shan bought in as interim manager.

With the two Midlands rivals set to match up, who would get into a combined XI of the two sides?

Here, we look to create a dream team comprising of both Albion and Villa’s stars.
