# McGinn hoping “colossus” Tyrone Mings returns

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn is hoping loanee defender Tyrone Mings returns to the club on a permanent basis after being loaned from Premier League club Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old has had an outstanding couple of months at the club after joining on loan in January.

[Speaking to the Express and Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/aston-villa/2019/05/17/john-mcginn-hoping-aston-villa-can-win-promotion-and-keep-defensive-colossus-tyrone-mings/), McGinn expressed his desire to see Mings remain at Villa Park long-term.

There is no clause in Mings’ contract that gives Villa an option to buy, instead, there is a clause that allows the club to match any bids made from other teams.

However, Mings’ move may be dependant on whether Dean Smith’s side achieve promotion after beating West Brom in the play-off semi-final last week.

Should Villa gain promotion by beating Derby County in the final then Mings is much more likely to be enticed with a move to the claret and blue colours.

> Tyrone has been different class since he joined in January. It took us ages to get him.
>
> He is a colossus at the back. I just don’t know how he does not get a game for Bournemouth.
>
> If we can keep hold of Ty in the Premier League, if we get there, it would be brilliant for the club.

Both players have been a huge part of Villa’s season in the last few months, with a brilliant run of form seeing the club earn a spot in the play-offs and now reaching the final.
