# Aston Villa preparing £14m bid for Kalvin Phillips

Aston Villa are preparing to make a £14m offer for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the coming weeks.

[According to John Percy of The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/06/12/aston-villa-target-leeds-united-midfielderkalvin-phillips-14m/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw), Villa are eyeing up Phillips as one of their top targets ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

The report claims that they are ready to start with a bid of £14m for Phillips, which falls below Leeds’ valuation of the player.

Percy claims that Leeds value Phillips at £20m, which suggests that Villa’s initial move will be rejected by the Championship outfit.

Villa are said to have scouted Phillips throughout the 2018/19 campaign, as Leeds finished 3rd and he was named in the Championship Team of the Season – ahead of Villa’s Jack Grealish.

The report also claims that Villa are set to bid for Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland as they look to sign a new number one and replace Jed Steer this summer.
