Villa to continue search for striker – but who could Smith sign before the window shuts?

Aston Villa’s chase for a striker looks to continue into the final day of the summer transfer window, with Dean Smith looking keen to get one more forward in before the window shuts.

Villa are lacking in depth up front going into their first Premier League fixture with Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, with only Wesley, Jonathan Kodija and Keinan Davis as first-team strikers.

Scoring goals is key to staying in the top flight, and Smith is looking for one more striker to come into Villa before the end of the transfer window.

He will also be looking to replace the goals scored by outgoing striker Tammy Abraham, who rejoined Chelsea on the expiration of his loan deal.

With the window slamming shut on Thursday, Villa don’t have long to bring their man in, but they have been linked with several players.

Here, we’ll look at some of the targets that have been touted with a switch to Villa.
