# Villa fans react to Frederic Guilbert’s full debut for Aston Villa

Aston Villa fans are calling for French full-back Frederic Guilbert to be starting every week after a great debut performance for Villa.

The Frenchman was immense against Everton on Friday night, using his great pace and defensive play to be a huge factor in Aston Villa’s victory over the Toffees.

Several Aston Villa fans reacted to the defender’s performance on social media, with a lot of them calling for Guilbert to become the new starter at right-back for Dean Smith’s side.

@DJRUSSKE believes that Guilbert should be an instant starter for Villa after the great 90 minutes against Everton.

Dom reckons that Guilbert is the fastest player at the club, and that he could prove to be as fast as a certain Villa icon.

John Reckons it may be time to put Targett in the team to see if he can provide the same impact that Guilbert did on Friday.

@AVFC\_Religion was reminded of Guilbert when watching Liverpool beat Arsenal.

### Read ASton Villa’s Verdict

Guilbert is certainly now a key man for Villa going forward, and many will be asking why he didn’t play the first two games.

He was a defensive rock, and his pace causes problems going forward and to opposition attackers.

He’s surely the new starter in defence for Dean Smith’s side, and it would be a huge shock if Elmohamady came back in anytime soon.

Guilbert is certainly on a different level to the Egyptian, and long may he remain in the first team.
