Predicted Villa XI: Brighton (A)

They say that death and taxes are the only two things that are certain in life, but we can add Villa being cheated out of valuable points by VAR to that list.

Villa lost 3-2 to Arsenal on Sunday evening, but they were denied an obvious penalty with just minutes remaining because the referee and the official in charge of VAR inexplicably decided that Sokratis moving his arm out to block a goal-bound Hourihane shot wasn’t a handball.

Sokratis, after his acting in the first half, showed everyone watching that he would have been more cut out for a role in Hollywood than as a centre-back for a team chasing a Europa League spot. Hopefully there is a retrospective ban coming for him as that was beyond embarrassing from the Greek.

Next up for Dean Smith’s men is an away trip to face Brighton in the Carabao Cup. We reckon Smith will make a whole host of changes as he will be more concerned with getting all three points against Burnley at the weekend.

Here is our predicted Villa XI for Wednesday’s cup game against Brighton…
