Villa fans react as Sokratis handball not given by referee

Aston Villa fans are fuming after Dean Smith’s side weren’t given a penalty late on during the defeat to Arsenal.

The Gunners secured three points despite falling behind to Dean Smith’s team, but it could have been very different.

Sokratis looked to have handballed it late on, but no penalty was given and VAR was not consulted.

Many Villa fans were confused with the decision, especially as to why the video assistant referee was not consulted.

Luke is confused how Grealish was called for handball, whilst Sokratis was not.

It’s still shocking that VAR isn’t being used for these decisions, especially in addition to the new handball rule.

Nobody seemingly knows what it is, especially the referees.

We need some clarification, especially after another incident like this that has cost Villa big time.
