# Villa fans react to reports that the club have made an offer for Sturridge

Turkish outlet [Fanatik (via Sport Witness)](https://sportwitness.co.uk/claim-aston-villa-offered-e5m-sign-daniel-sturridge/?fbclid=IwAR1JBunWUesAufIo_DGkiqoFH1kYsbVL6IeEDZRWTN3proXCuRDBMv3DeU4) have reported that Aston Villa have made an offer of €5m (£4.2m) to Trabzonspor for striker Daniel Sturridge.

The former England international moved to Turkey on a free transfer in the summer after leaving Liverpool, with whom he won the Champions League before he departed to Trabzonspor.

The 30-year-old has scored [four goals in nine Super Lig games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daniel-sturridge/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/47082/saison/2019/wettbewerb/TR1/verein/449) for his new club this season, but he’s also missed a [further seven league matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daniel-sturridge/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/47082/saison/2019/wettbewerb/TR1/verein/449) with various injuries.

As is often the case when a transfer report is circulated, plenty of Villa fans took to Twitter to give their opinions about the possibility of the club bringing in the Birmingham-born striker in January, and it’s fair to say that the responses were mixed, with some thinking it would be a good idea, whilst others didn’t seem sure why Villa would look to sign a player who has been plagued with injury problems in recent seasons.

Here’s what some Villa fans had to say:

> If Dean can get him anywhere near his form while at Liverpool he will be a bargain

> Played 11, scored 6 and 7 assists. Either superb stats or very much Mickey Mouse league. Class player when fit, but super injury prone at Liverpool
