# Villa approach Wigan regarding Antonee Robinson

Premier League side Aston Villa are keeping an eye on the situation of Antonee Robinson ahead of a potential move for him this summer, according to a report on [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-among-clubs-keeping-tabs-21459993?_ga=2.122062088.2040271259.1581326216-913246735.1521212836).

[The report](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-among-clubs-keeping-tabs-21459993?_ga=2.122062088.2040271259.1581326216-913246735.1521212836) also reveals that Chelsea and Newcastle United are also keen on the full-back and all three clubs have contacted Wigan regarding the defender.

Robinson, who [left Everton for the Latics](https://wiganathletic.com/news/2019/july/return-of-the-jedi--wigan-athletic-complete-signing-of-usmnt-international-antonee-robinson-from-everton/) on a permanent deal last summer, was close to completing [a £6m move](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51322793) to Italian giants AC Milan last month.

However, the [move broke down](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51322793) because there was not enough time left for the Serie A side to complete the required tests to register him as a player for the club.

### READ ASTON VILLA VERDICT

Robinson is a key player for Wigan, as shown by the fact that he has played 30 times for the club in all competitions this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antonee-robinson/leistungsdaten/spieler/349701)).

We believe that the 22-year-old would be a good addition to the Villa squad because of his ball interception and dribbling, which [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/306581/Show/Antonee-Robinson) list as his main strengths.

The USA international’s current deal with Wigan [lasts until 2022](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-among-clubs-keeping-tabs-21459993?_ga=2.122062088.2040271259.1581326216-913246735.1521212836)but with several clubs scrambling for his signature, the Championship club could be set to make a healthy profit on the player they signed for a mere [£1.98m](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-among-clubs-keeping-tabs-21459993?_ga=2.122062088.2040271259.1581326216-913246735.1521212836).

We believe that battling with the likes of Chelsea and AC Milan for Robinson’s signature won’t be easy for Villa, so remaining in the top-flight could be key for them if they are to stand a chance of getting Robinson to Villa Park.
