# Villa fans in confident mood ahead of Spurs clash

Aston Villa [host Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.avfc.co.uk/Fixture-Listings) in the Premier League this Sunday and many Villa fans are in confident mood ahead of the clash.

The result could have a[big impact on both ends of the league table](https://www.premierleague.com/tables), with Jose Mourinho’s side pushing for a top-four position, whilst Dean Smith’s side are fighting to survive relegation back to the Championship.

Spurs come into the game after[beating defending league champions Manchester City](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/feb/02/tottenham-manchester-city-premier-league-match-report) in north London, whilst Villa suffered a[disappointing 2-1 defeat](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51246500)at the Vitality Stadium against fellow strugglers AFC Bournemouth.

Last weekend, several of Villa’s league rivals were in action in the league, with the results going heavily in Villa’s favour.

Brighton and Watford [drew](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51337006), whilst [Crystal Palace](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51337005) and[Bournemouth lost](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/feb/09/sheffield-united-bournemouth-premier-league-match-report), meaning Villa have a great chance to get an advantage over those sides by getting a positive result against Spurs.

These fans believe that at Villa Park, Smith’s side are more than capable of beating last season’s UEFA Champions League finalists.
