# Villa fans praise Samatta after display against Spurs

Mbwana Samatta was handed his second league start for Aston Villa by manager Dean Smith against Tottenham Hotspur.

The attacker [netted on his debut](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51246500)against Bournemouth but did not find the net as the hosts fell to a[3-2 defeat](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51431287)against Jose Mourinho’s men last Sunday.

However, his all-round display has left many Villa fans impressed with the Tanzanian international.

As seen on [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376079/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Aston-Villa-Tottenham), Samatta had three shots and made two key passes, which shows that he was a constant attacking threat whilst he was on the pitch.

However, he did seem to be pretty isolated up front, proven by the fact that he only had [32 touches](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376079/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Aston-Villa-Tottenham) of the ball, which was the lowest from the all the players who started the match for the home side.

The [January arrival](https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2020/01/20/samatta-signs-for-villa)was replaced with just under ten minutes remaining for [fellow new arrival](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51333634)Borja Baston and many fans have taken to Twitter to show their appreciation towards Samatta.
