# Trezeguet set to return to starting XI after recent head injury

[Trezeguet](https://readastonvilla.com/2020/12/02/agbonlahor-criticises-erratic-trezeguet-west-ham-miss/) was an injury doubt for Aston Villa ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but [Birmingham Live](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-engels-team-news-19432347) claimed that the 26-year-old should be available for selection.

Trezeguet suffered a head injury in Villa’s recent 2-1 defeat to West Ham United and had a bad cut which needed treating, but he has since recovered and could start at Molineux tomorrow.

The Egyptian international has made [51 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/trezeguet/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/234189) in all competitions since [joining](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/trezeguet/transfers/spieler/234189) from Kasimpasa in 2019, scoring seven goals and supplying five assists, but he has not been having the best of seasons so far this term.

### READ ASTON VILLA VERDICT

Trezeguet has failed to score in [10 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/trezeguet/leistungsdaten/spieler/234189) and only has two assists to his name in 2020/21, so his place in the side may be up for grabs. He [missed a sitter](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/aston-villa-fans-slate-trezeguet-following-west-ham-defeat/) in the West Ham defeat and has players breathing down his neck for playing time in [Bertrand Traore and Anwar El Ghazi](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/leistungsdaten/verein/405).

Villa are coming off the back of [four defeats from their last five league games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/spielplan/verein/405), so they desperately need a result. Smith can’t afford Trezeguet to fire blanks, so he must think carefully about restoring the Egyptian to the starting XI.

***In other news, [one of Trezeguet’s team-mates](https://readastonvilla.com/2020/12/11/frederic-guilbert-could-be-in-line-to-return-for-wolves-clash/) could also be in line to return to the team for the Wolves game tomorrow.***
