# Aston Villa Predicted XI: Burnley (A)

[Aston Villa](https://readastonvilla.com/2021/01/26/dean-smith-transfer-comments-morgan-sanson-signing-imminent/) travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley this evening and hope to build on their victory over Newcastle United by securing consecutive Premier League wins.

Dean Smith is unlikely to make unnecessary changes to a winning side, but he does have a decision to make on the returning John McGinn, who [missed the Newcastle game due to suspension](https://www.skysports.com/football/burnley-vs-a-villa/preview/429028).

**Emiliano Martinez** shut out the Magpies and should keep his place between the sticks this evening. **Tyrone Mings** and **Ezri Konsa** helped to keep a clean sheet on Saturday and are both likely to get the nod at centre-back again.

**Matty Cash** turned over the ball [seven times](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1485256/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2020-2021-Aston-Villa-Newcastle-United) against Newcastle, while **Matt Targett** [won possession five times](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1485256/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2020-2021-Aston-Villa-Newcastle-United), so the pair should again start at right-back and left-back respectively.

Marvelous Nakamba [impressed](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1485256/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2020-2021-Aston-Villa-Newcastle-United) alongside **Douglas Luiz** on Saturday, but he might lose his place to the returning **McGinn** now that the 26-year-old is available after his one-match ban.

**Bertrand Traore** scored his [fourth goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bertrand-traore/leistungsdaten/spieler/131996) in six Premier League games against Newcastle, so he should get the nod on the right flank at Turf Moor. **Jack Grealish** supplied his [fourth assist in six games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-grealish/leistungsdaten/spieler/203460) on Saturday, so his place on the left is also assured against Burnley.

**Ross Barkley** created the [second-most amount of chances](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1485256/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2020-2021-Aston-Villa-Newcastle-United) against the Magpies and should start in a central attacking midfield role once more. **Ollie Watkins** [ended his goal drought](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ollie-watkins/leistungsdaten/spieler/324358) in the same game and is expected to get the nod up front as he hasn’t put a foot wrong.

[Just the one change](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3421773) from Saturday’s win over Newcastle, then, as McGinn [resumes his familiar place in Villa’s midfield](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-mcginn/leistungsdaten/spieler/193116).

***Predicted XI v Burnley:*** *Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett; Luiz, McGinn; Traore, Barkley, Grealish; Watkins*
