# Wesley Moraes posts on social media after sealing loan move

Danny Ings’ arrival from Southampton was bad news for Keinan Davis and Wesley Moraes. The 29-year-old was signed to take the scoring burden off Ollie Watkins, meaning Dean Smith would likely overlook his backup options even more this season.

Davis’ hopes of landing a loan move to Stoke City were [ended](https://www.footballinsider247.com/hutton-my-heart-bleeds-for-great-lad-davis-after-crushing-aston-villa-blow/) after he picked up an injury, but Wesley did manage to bag himself a temporary move away. The 24-year-old has returned to Club Brugge for the season and posted on his  [Instagram story](https://www.instagram.com/stories/wesleymoraes07/2650329109331026746/) after the deal was confirmed.

Wesley [joined](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wesley/transfers/spieler/381362) Villa from Brugge in 2019 and has gone on to make [26 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wesley/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/381362) in all competitions, scoring six goals with one assist. The Brazilian international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his debut season that kept him out for over a year.

He’s not been the same player since he returned, however, which is why Smith plumped for Ings and has allowed Wesley to be loaned out, so his long-term future at Villa Park is uncertain. Nevertheless, the striker is excited to be back at his former club and will hope to impress with more first-team football.
