# Fans mixed on social media as Newcastle are linked with Marvelous Nakamba

Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has an uncertain future as he’s failing to hold down a starting place under Dean Smith this season. The 27-year-old still has three years remaining on his deal, but [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-newcastle-set-sights-on-signing-aston-villa-star-nakamba-in-january/) say Newcastle United could lure him away from Villa Park with their lucrative resources.

Nakamba [joined](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marvelous-nakamba/transfers/spieler/324882) the Midlands outfit on a five-year deal from Club Brugge in 2019 and has gone on to make [57 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marvelous-nakamba/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/324882) in all competitions. The Zimbabwean international featured heavily in his first [season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marvelous-nakamba/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/324882) at Villa, but he’s been somewhat of an afterthought ever since – 9/38 PL starts in 2020/21, 1/9 PL starts in 2021/22.

Newcastle are reportedly willing to pay £15m to procure his signature as they believe he’s an excellent ball-winner who can turn over possession frequently, but fans on [social media](https://twitter.com/footyinsider247/status/1452568228245512196) are mixed.

> Newcastle need to stay up first they ain’t signing Mbappe in a relegation battle Nakamba is that level doubt Villa would sell though

Nakamba has featured in [seven games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marvelous-nakamba/leistungsdaten/spieler/324882) across the board this season, but the majority of his appearances are from the bench. The 27-year-old has found himself behind Douglas Luiz and John McGinn in the pecking order, so might he be tempted to join the Newcastle project?
