# Matty Cash posts picture on IG after changing international allegiance

Matty Cash has been an excellent servant for Aston Villa since his [2020-move](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matty-cash/transfers/spieler/425334) from Nottingham Forest and was being [considered](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jack-grealish-cash-southgate-england-20208444) for an England call up last season, but the 24-year-old has changed his international allegiance to Poland after successfully getting his citizenship.

Cash posted a picture on his [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CVflWgotkNc/) with his mother and father and Polish authorities as he celebrated the news. The slough-born defender will now represent the Poland national team and could find himself in the squad for November’s international break.

Cash has made [38 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matty-cash/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/425334) in all competitions for Villa, scoring one goal with three assists. And although he was looked at by Gareth Southgate, too much [competition at right-back](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/16333008/competition-england-right-back-twenty-southgate/) made it unlikely he’d feature regularly – Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Reece James (Chelsea), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid), Kyle Walker (Manchester City).

[Poland](https://www.transfermarkt.com/polen/spielplan/verein/3442/saison_id/2020) have used Kamil Jozwiak as a makeshift right wing-back of late, so Cash stands a good chance of nailing down a starting place based on recent form. His mother is of Polish descent which allowed him to switch allegiances and now he’s focused on being a great servant for the country.

Biało-czerwoni face Andorra on November 12 and Hungary on November 15.
