# Fans on social media fume as Aston Villa are linked with ‘overrated’ Kamara

Aston Villa have [appointed](https://readastonvilla.com/2021/11/11/fans-hail-brilliant-news-as-aston-villa-close-in-on-appointing-steven-gerrard/) Steven Gerrard as their new manager and confirmed the [arrivals](https://readastonvilla.com/2021/11/14/danny-mills-says-aston-villa-fans-will-be-delighted-by-steven-gerrards-first-act/) of many of his Rangers backroom staff, so it’s not a surprise that a number of players are also being tipped to make the switch from Ibrox.

One notable name on the list is Glen Kamara who the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/glen-kamara-aston-villa-transfer-25446084) say was being scouted by the Villans before Gerrard’s appointment. The 26-year-old was nearly the subject of a £6m bid from Villa but nothing materialised. That could change in January, however, but fans on [social media](https://twitter.com/search?q=villa%20kamara&src=typed_query) aren’t too pleased.

Kamara [joined](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glen-kamara/transfers/spieler/242632) Rangers from Dundee in 2019 and has gone on to make [123 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glen-kamara/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/242632) in all competitions, scoring five goals with seven assists. The Finnish international is a talented midfielder who would improve the squad at many clubs, but fans don’t believe it would be at Villa.

Given Gerrard has inherited a side with John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson, so he doesn’t need another midfielder right now. Kamara wouldn’t break the bank with a [£10m asking price](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9728183/Brentford-set-battle-Watford-Rangers-midfielder-Glen-Kamara-valued-10m.html), but Villa don’t have a fervent need to bolster their engine room.
