# Fans on social media react as ‘superb’ Marvelous Nakamba is named Aston Villa Player of the Month

Marvelous Nakamba was short of regular playing time earlier in the season, relying on the odd substitute [appearance](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marvelous-nakamba/leistungsdaten/spieler/324882) while being left on the bench at times, but he’s been one of the first names on the teamsheet in recent weeks and has been in fine form.

Nakamba has been expert at turning over possession while displaying composure on the ball and a good eye for a pass, so it wasn’t a surprise that Aston Villa [confirmed](https://twitter.com/AVFCOfficial/status/1466807188173860876) the 27-year-old as their Villa Player of the Month for November.

He’d put in a series of top-notch performances in midfield and was lauded by supporters on social media after the announcement. Nakamba alongside John McGinn and Douglas Luiz has worked well under Steven Gerrard, so there’s no reason why that won’t continue.

> Quite right. Has been superb recently, long may it continue.

> 100% deserved. His strengths have been apparent for a while but he's so clearly already becoming a more confident and well-rounded player since Gerrard's arrival. Making himself a big miss when AFCON comes around.

The Zimbabwean international [joined](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marvelous-nakamba/transfers/spieler/324882) Villa from Club Brugge in 2019 and has gone on to make [62 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marvelous-nakamba/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/324882) in all competitions. Nakamba wasn’t at his best in his debut season at Villa Park but proved his worth in 2020/21. And with the 27-year-old still delivering in 2021/22, there’s no more talk of an exit.
