# Fans on social media say Kortney Hause ‘needs upgrading’ as report emerges

Kortney Hause has an uncertain future at Aston Villa as he’s [not commanding a starting place under Steven Gerrard](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-gerrard-22416262) and is in the final year of his deal. The 26-year-old finds himself behind Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Axel Tuanzebe in the pecking order and could be a free agent in the coming months.

Hause does have the option to trigger a one-year extension in his contract, but Gerrard might be looking at upgrading the centre-back at the next available opportunity. Some fans on [social media](https://twitter.com/search?q=kortney%20hause&src=typed_query&f=live) believe Hause should be replaced by a better centre-back too.

> Does that mean Hause is one of the players struggling with SG new style of play and demands?

> Axel/Hause not good enough – never was. We being lucky Konsa/Mings had not serious injury. We badly need a left back and a DCM although Nakamba has done well of late.

> Hause and Tunanzebe aren't that great. Rumours of Joe Gomez are interesting.

> Hause and Tuanzebe aren’t first team options and aren’t pushing Mings or Konsa IMO. Think we need an international quality CB to be pushing them for a place in the team.

> I wouldn't consider axel or hause all the solid really

Hause [joined](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/transfers/spieler/233124) Villa on a three-year deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers and has gone on to make [52 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/233124) in all competitions, scoring four goals. The 26-year-old has featured just [six times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/leistungsdaten/spieler/233124) across the board this season, spending the majority of his time as an unused substitute, so he might want more opportunities elsewhere.

If Gerrard is looking to bolster his backline in January or the following summer, Hause might be the one for the chop. Time will tell, however.
