# Gabriel Agbonlahor says Kortney Hause has ‘performed well’ this season

Kortney Hause’s future at Aston Villa was uncertain for a little while as his deal was up in 2022 and he’s been behind Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa in the pecking order, but Axel Tuanzebe’s loan being [cut short](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jan/02/manchester-united-axel-tuanzebe-loaned-to-napoli-to-end-aston-villa-spell) now meant he became Steven Gerrard’s only cover at the back.

And now Hause has [signed](https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/january/20/hause-pens-contract-extension/) a new deal with Villa until 2025, so it’s clear the club always held him in high regard. Gabriel Agbonlahor rates the Englishman highly too and told [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/agbonlahor-aston-villa-may-have-gomez-deal-and-one-other-signing-lined-up-after-sources-reveal/) that Hause has “performed well” when called upon this season.

He said: “I really like Hause. Whenever he comes in for Konsa or Mings he never does anything wrong, he’s always reliable. Every time I’ve seen Kortney Hause he’s performed well. If I was him, I’d want to play more but you have to look at the quality in front of him, Konsa and Mings have a great partnership.”

The 26-year-old has made only [8/26 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/leistungsdaten/spieler/233124) in all competitions this season, amassing 575 minutes of playing time from a possible 2340. He hasn’t played a lot of football under Gerrard but has put in good performances when called upon, so it’s easy to see why Villa have extended his contract.

Since [joining](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/transfers/spieler/233124) the Claret and Blues from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2019, Hause has gone on to make [54 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/233124) across the board, scoring four goals. The 26-year-old isn’t a regular but is a useful squad player than can be depended upon.
