# Media rave over ‘devastating’ Archer who played ‘well’ vs Hull

Cameron Archer scored the winning goal for Preston North End in [Saturday’s 1-0 win over Hull City](https://www.pnefc.net/news/2022/february/match-report-for-hull-city-vs-preston-north-end-on-05-feb-22/) and was lauded by the media. The on-loan 20-year-old netted his second goal in four games for Preston, justifying his second start for the club, so his future looks bright.

*George Hodgson* of [Lancashire Live](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/preston-player-ratings-aston-villa-22998927) gave Archer a player rating of 9/10 and said the striker was ‘devastating’ in front of goal after missing two earlier chances. Hodgson said Archer was a ‘nuisance’ all game and was ‘unselfish’ at the MKM Stadium.

*Dave Seddon* of the [Lancashire Post](https://www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/preston-north-end/pne-player-ratings-hull-city-0-preston-north-end-1-3556818?page=3) gave the England U20 international a player rating of 8/10 and said Archer ‘played ever so well’ after hitting the woodwork with an earlier effort. *Seddon* praised Archer for his ‘lovely’ goal too as the striker took his chance well.

*Alex Dicken* of [Birmingham Live](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-cameron-archer-preston-22999901) called Archer’s form ‘red-hot’ this season and called Saturday’s goal ‘decisive’.

[Sky Sports’](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12532460/hull-city-0-1-preston-cameron-archer-fires-north-end-to-victory) reporter said Archer converted a Ben Whiteman cross after hitting the post and forcing a brilliant save from Hull goalkeeper Daniel Iversen. Archer was naturally delighted with his contribution in the 1-0 victory and [posted pictures on Twitter](https://twitter.com/Cameronarcher_/status/1490051029479608320?s=20&t=gr55eqMTPRJ9z0H6iusBkg) which supporters reacted positively to.

Aston Villa will be delighted with how Archer’s loan is going at Deepdale. Next up for Preston is a home clash with Huddersfield Town on Wednesday, February 9.
