# What’s the latest on Keinan Davis’ future?

Keinan Davis looked on his way out of Aston Villa this summer after a successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest, but the 24-year-old may not be joining the Reds permanently now, so he’s [due to report to Bodymoor Heath for pre-season training](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-pre-season-training-24281116).

Davis struggled for goals in the top-flight and found himself behind Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings in the pecking order, so he was loaned out to Forest to get more playing time at a level he can thrive at. The plan worked, as the 24-year-old had a hand in seven goals from [15 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/keinan-davis/leistungsdaten/spieler/412660) and helped Forest achieve promotion.

The Reds were expected to turn his move permanent for [£15m](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-gerrard-27102064), but they appear to have cooled their interest and turned their attentions to Taiwo [Awoniyi](https://twitter.com/NFFC/status/1540605942043131904?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) and Moise [Kean](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/fulham-and-nottingham-forest-interested-in-juventus-kean). So now [Steven Gerrard will run the rule over Davis in pre-season](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfers-gerrard-chukwuemeka-24311775) unless his asking price is met.

The 24-year-old has scored eight goals with seven assists from [86 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/keinan-davis/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/412660) since [joining](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/keinan-davis/transfers/spieler/412660) Villa from Biggleswade Town in 2015, so he’s never been a prolific striker. And with Cameron Archer boasting 17 goals in [36 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-archer/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/533662) for the U23s, netting seven goals in 20 games on loan at Preston and bagging four goals in [three games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-archer/nationalmannschaft/spieler/533662) for England’s U21s, he has more of a Villa future than Davis.

But with a £15m asking price, suitors might be hesistant to make a move.
