# Aston Villa linked with Ilias Chair transfer swoop

[Aston Villa](https://readastonvilla.com/) have been linked with a transfer move for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ilias Chair.

That’s according to a recent report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-aston-villa-plot-move-for-qpr-star-ilias-chair/), which claims that Villa have sent scouts on a regular basis to Loftus Road this season to keep an eye on the player as they line up a move ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

The 24-year-old [joined](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ilias-chair/transfers/spieler/380473) QPR’s U21 side back in the 2017 January window from Belgian club Lierse SK.

Since then, the attacking midfielder has gone on to make [167](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ilias-chair/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/380473) senior appearances for the west London club across all competitions, chipping in with 26 goals and 28 assists.

This season has seen the Moroccan, who Glenn Murray [labelled](https://www.teamtalk.com/queens-park-rangers/hes-the-real-deal-glenn-murray-lauds-ilias-chair) as an “exciting” player, score three goals and provide six assists in [16](https://fbref.com/en/squads/a757999c/Queens-Park-Rangers-Stats) Championship appearances.

As well as that, the player has had [43](https://fbref.com/en/comps/10/shooting/Championship-Stats) shots at goal in total this season, leaving only two other players in the division with more, showcasing how much of a nuisance he is for opposition goalkeepers.

Having also delivered [101](https://fbref.com/en/comps/10/misc/Championship-Stats) crosses for his side, only seven other players in the league have made more, further highlighting his attacking talent.

His overall performances have earned the QPR star a solid season rating of 7.24/10 from [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/7/Seasons/9141/Stages/21050/PlayerStatistics/England-Championship-2022-2023), making him the sixth highest-rated player in the Championship.

Taking all of this into account, it’s safe to say that not only has Chair been ripping it up in the Championship this season, but it’s also easy to see why a Premier League club like Villa have their eye on him.

Moving forward, while it seems likely that the Loftus Road outfit would be reluctant to let one of their top performers leave halfway through the season when they will be looking to win promotion back to the Premier League, if Villa can work out a deal for Chair in January, this could be a very smart move from the club.
