# Aston Villa Miss Out As Leeds Agree Harry Wilson Deal

Aston Villa look set to miss out on Harry Wilson after Leeds United reached an agreement to sign the Fulham winger on a free transfer.

According to David Ornstein, Leeds have struck a deal for the 29-year-old Wales international, who is due to leave Craven Cottage when his contract expires at the end of June. The Athletic reporter added that Wilson is expected to undergo a medical before joining on a long-term deal with a higher salary.

## Villa Lose A Proven Free-Agent Option

For Villa, the frustration is obvious. Wilson represented a rare market opportunity: Premier League output, international experience and no transfer fee at a time when Unai Emery’s recruitment work is still being shaped by financial discipline.

[talkSPORT reports](https://talksport.com/football/4359666/harry-wilson-leeds-transfer-agreed-fulham/) that Wilson is coming off a strong 2025/26 campaign, with 10 goals and seven assists, while [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-united/harry-wilson-agrees-to-join-leeds-huge-free-transfer-mega-money-contract) has named Aston Villa among the rival offers Leeds have beaten.

That does not make Wilson a disastrous miss, but it does sharpen the right-sided attacking question. Villa have already been operating patiently before the June 30 accounting line, and this deal shows how quickly value options can disappear when a club is ready to move.

The wider winger market now matters. If Villa want a reliable rotation option without straining the budget, the next target may need to be identified quickly.
