## Leon Bailey Hull City transfer moves closer

Hull have been working on a move for Bailey throughout July. Earlier negotiations had not produced an agreement with Villa, despite the Jamaica international reportedly favouring a move to the MKM Stadium.

The latest update represents a significant step towards ending Bailey’s five-year association with Villa. He returned to Birmingham midway through last season after his loan spell at Roma was brought to an early conclusion.

Villa are prepared to sell the winger as Unai Emery reshapes his attacking options. Reports previously placed their valuation between £12million and £20million, while Hull had explored whether a loan agreement could be possible.

[ReadAstonVilla reported on Tuesday that Bailey’s departure could help Villa recruit another winger](https://readastonvilla.com/2026/07/28/aston-villa-plan-another-winger-signing-after-garnacho-deal/). Alejandro Garnacho has already arrived, but the club are believed to want another wide attacker before the window closes.

Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and has made more than 140 appearances for the club. His best campaign came in 2023/24, when his direct running and final-third output helped Emery’s side qualify for the Champions League.

Hull would provide Bailey with an opportunity to remain in the Premier League and compete for regular starts. The Tigers have returned to the top flight after winning the Championship play-off final.

The Leon Bailey Hull City transfer is not complete, but the latest development suggests an agreement is now moving closer.
