# Watch Aston Villa vs Pathum United highlights

**Aston Villa continued their pre-season preparations with another 3-1 victory as Unai Emery’s side beat BG Pathum United in Thailand.**

Emi Buendia opened the scoring before Victor Lindelof doubled Villa’s advantage before half-time. Boubacar Kamara then marked his return from injury with a goal shortly after coming on during the second half.

The game at True BG Stadium was delayed because of adverse weather, but Villa quickly settled once play eventually began.

Buendia continued his impressive pre-season form by finishing a slick attacking move involving Alysson, Lamare Bogarde and Matty Cash.

Villa created further opportunities before Lindelof made it 2-0. Alysson delivered from a corner and the Sweden international rose to head home.

Emery continued to use the fixture to assess his squad, with academy players again featuring alongside more established first-team names.

One concern arrived through Alejandro Garnacho. The Chelsea loanee required treatment after taking a blow to the face during the first half, although he was able to leave the pitch under his own power.

## Encouragement after the break

Kamara was introduced for his first appearance since recovering from a lengthy knee injury and made an immediate impact by scoring Villa’s third.

The midfielder later said it “feels good to be back” after finally returning to action, with his availability representing an important boost for Emery before competitive football begins. Villa’s [official BG Pathum United match report](https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2026/august/04/report-bg-pathum-united-1-3-aston-villa/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) confirmed Buendia, Lindelof and Kamara as the three scorers.

John McGinn provided Villa’s other injury concern.

The captain appeared to jar his knee and was withdrawn as a precaution rather than being allowed to continue. BG Pathum pulled one back late in the contest while Villa were playing with ten men following McGinn’s departure, but the hosts never threatened a comeback.

Villa comfortably saw out the closing stages to record their second successive 3-1 victory on the Asian leg of their pre-season tour.

There were positive individual performances elsewhere too.

Alysson was heavily involved in Villa’s best attacking work during the opening period, while Brian Madjo again looked lively after coming on. Villa now face a considerably tougher test against Bayern Munich in Hong Kong on Friday before attention turns towards the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain.
