# Aston Villa face fresh threat as Serie A giants move for €30m target

**Aston Villa face fresh competition for Teun Koopmeiners after Roma reportedly joined the race to sign the Juventus midfielder.**

Unai Emery’s side have been exploring a move for the Netherlands international as Villa continue reshaping their midfield, with Manchester United also linked earlier in the window.

Roma have now emerged as another potential destination, increasing the competition for a player Juventus are prepared to let leave this summer.

## Teun Koopmeiners Aston Villa move faces Roma competition

[Fresh Italian reporting says Roma have joined Aston Villa and Manchester United in monitoring Koopmeiners](https://cultofcalcio.com/roma-join-race-to-sign-juventus-flop-teun-koopmeiners/).

Roma’s interest could become particularly significant if Manu Koné leaves the Stadio Olimpico, with the Juventus midfielder viewed as a possible replacement.

Juventus are open to moving Koopmeiners on after two difficult seasons in Turin.

The 28-year-old arrived from Atalanta in a major deal in 2024 but has struggled to consistently reproduce the form which made him one of Serie A’s most influential midfielders.

Recent reports have suggested Juventus would now consider offers in the region of €30million.

Villa’s interest makes sense given the changes Emery has already been forced to make in midfield.

Youri Tielemans has left for Manchester United, while Amadou Onana faces a significant spell on the sidelines. João Gomes has arrived and Boubacar Kamara is back from injury, but Villa have continued assessing further senior options.

Koopmeiners would bring tactical flexibility.

He can operate as a deeper midfielder, play further forward or even drop into defence when required, giving Emery another player capable of covering several roles.

Villa are not alone, though.

Roma entering the picture gives Koopmeiners another possible route to regular football without leaving Serie A, while Manchester United have also been credited with interest.

No agreement has been reached with any club.

Villa therefore remain in the race, but competition for Koopmeiners appears to be growing.
