# Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest referee and VAR confirmed

**Andy Madley will referee Aston Villa’s Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Saturday.**

Unai Emery’s side return to domestic action on 12 September following their 3-2 Champions League victory over Club Brugge.

The Premier League has now confirmed the complete refereeing team for the 3pm kick-off.

Madley will take charge on the pitch, with **Tim Wood appointed as the Video Assistant Referee**.

## Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest match officials

The officials appointed by the Premier League are:

**Referee:** Andy Madley\
**Assistant referees:** Constantine Hatzidakis and Richard West\
**Fourth official:** Oliver Langford\
**VAR:** Tim Wood\
**Assistant VAR:** Will Finnie

The appointments were officially announced by the Premier League as part of its Matchweek Four selections.

## Andy Madley record ahead of Villa clash

Madley is averaging approximately **3.4 yellow cards and 22.7 fouls per match**, according to FotMob’s current referee data.

Villa will hope the focus remains firmly on the football after refereeing decisions from their recent defeat to Arsenal came under renewed scrutiny this week.

The Premier League’s Key Match Incidents panel has since ruled that Ian Maatsen should have conceded a penalty and received a second yellow card during that match.

Saturday brings a different refereeing team and another important opportunity for Villa.

Emery’s team are still searching for their first Premier League victory of the campaign, while Forest also travel to Birmingham without a league win.

Our **Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest TV guide** confirms the match will not be broadcast live in the UK because of the Saturday 3pm blackout.

We have also looked at **Nottingham Forest’s current form before the Villa Park meeting**, with both clubs under early pressure to turn draws into victories.
