# Aston Villa Monitoring Lyon Playmaker Pavel Šulc Ahead of January

Aston Villa are reportedly monitoring Lyon attacking midfielder Pavel Šulc ahead of the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old has attracted interest from several European clubs after establishing himself in France following his 2025 move from Viktoria Plzeň.

According to [Hooligan Soccer](https://hooligan-soccer.com/lyons-pavel-sulc-transfer-rumors/), Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are closely monitoring Šulc’s situation through intermediaries.

Leeds United are currently further ahead, having reportedly established official contact with Lyon, while Juventus have held exploratory discussions.

## Aston Villa monitoring Pavel Šulc

Lyon are said to want at least €50million before opening negotiations over Šulc, whose contract runs until June 2029.

The Czech international primarily operates as a number ten but can also play from either flank, potentially giving Unai Emery another versatile option across his attack.

Šulc has recorded 13 goals and seven assists across all competitions since arriving at Lyon, according to the report.

Villa’s interest remains at the monitoring stage, with no offer or direct talks reported.

That distinction is important as the club continue assessing attacking options ahead of January.

Villa have also recently [stepped up their scouting of Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni](https://readastonvilla.com/2026/09/26/gianluca-prestianni-aston-villa-transfer-scouting/), suggesting the recruitment team are continuing to examine several younger attacking profiles.

Our [Aston Villa transfer tracker](https://readastonvilla.com/2026/07/21/aston-villa-transfer-news-every-signing-exit-and-target/) will follow whether the reported interest in Šulc develops into formal talks before the winter window.
