# Aston Villa North Stand redevelopment: New Villa Park footage reveals major progress

Fresh footage of Villa Park has revealed further progress on Aston Villa’s North Stand redevelopment. A large crawler crane now positioned at the construction site.

A progress report has been released as Aston Villa continue to work on their plans to increase the stadium capacity to over 50,000.

The project will add over 5,500 seats to Villa Park. But the North Stand will remain closed during the 2026-27 season as work continues.

## **Villa Park redevelopment shows signs of progress**

CC Overview’s footage from 28 October shows a number of things happening at the North Stand.

Work is ongoing at the corners of the stadium with cladding. The temporary orange steel structures can still be seen on parts of the site.

The arrival of the large crawler crane is also another notable occurrence. This indicates that more large-scale lifting operations may be about to begin. However, there is no indication as to when this will happen.

The footage also shows the incline that they will put the new terracing on. Giving more of an indication of how the extended North Stand will look.

Further progress has also been made in the new players’ tunnel. The outside of the generator building looks to be finished.

This gives us a more detailed insight into the changing layout of Villa Park as Aston Villa expand their stadium.

## **Could part of the new North Stand open early?**

One of the more interesting aspects of the latest Villa Park footage is that a part of the new terracing may be opened ahead of full redevelopment.

However, Aston Villa have yet to confirm a specific date for when any part of the stand will open. This should be seen as speculation.

The North Stand will remain closed for the 2026-27 campaign with work ongoing.

The club’s wider ambition is to take Villa Park beyond the 50,000-seat mark. Giving more supporters the opportunity to attend matches once the redevelopment is complete.

## **Contractor change did not stop the redevelopment**

Following the insolvency of Buckingham Group, the previous main contractor, JD Pierce, is now involved in the redevelopment of the Villa Park North Stand.

The latest footage shows more work going on at the site with the structural work, crane and new terraces. We can’t be 100% sure how much work is left to do. Although it does give us a better insight into how the stand is being built.

## **Villa Park expansion remains a major project for Aston Villa**

A major investment is going into the North Stand redevelopment at Aston Villa.

It will add over 5,500 new seats to the park, increasing the capacity to over 50,000.

The latest update on the building work provides fans with the opportunity to see the latest progress made. This includes the new player tunnel and areas set up for the new terraces.

The immediate priority is to get the work done, with the North Stand closed for the entire 2026-27 season. Any indication that parts of it can open to support earlier will need to be confirmed by the club.

As construction continues, further updates will help give an idea of when the redevelopment will be completed and what the new, larger North Stand at Villa Park will look like.
