# Aston Villa news: Prince William creates lasting memories with Prince George despite Barcelona defeat

Prince William and Prince George experienced another major European night together as Aston Villa supporters, even though their trip to Barcelona ended in disappointment.

The Prince of Wales took his eldest son to watch Unai Emery’s side lose 3-0 at the Spotify Camp Nou on Tuesday. Whilst it was certainly not a result they would have hoped to see, it continues the tradition of the family attending key games, with George becoming a regular face at Villa games.

For William, it is an opportunity to give his son experiences which can help form George’s relationship with the club.

## **Prince William introduces George to Villa’s European nights**

William and George watched the Champions League match from a VIP box at the Camp Nou stadium. They were greeted by Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who gave them both Barcelona shirts.

Barcelona took to social media to thank the royal visitors for their attendance.

George will have been influenced by his father’s love for Aston Villa and has attended key games at Villa Park before. But the European games provide a different feel.

William has spoken about the importance of making memories with his eldest son through football. Giving George the chance to experience key away games and the atmosphere of European football is important for William.

Tuesday’s trip to Barcelona was another example of this.

## **Barcelona defeat follows unforgettable European success**

The Camp Nou experience contrasted sharply with Villa’s recent European celebrations.

William was in Istanbul last season to see Villa win their first major trophy in 30 years after beating Freiburg 3-0 in the Europa League final. The Prince of Wales celebrated on the pitch.

He later stated that he was proud of the achievement, passing his congratulations on to the players, staff and everyone associated with the club. He also mentioned Boubacar Kamara in particular for his role in helping the team achieve success.

The success has helped make European football a key part of Villa’s recent history, and William and George have had the chance to watch their team compete in the Champions League.

After reaching the quarter-final stage of the competition last season, losing on aggregate 5-4 to Paris Saint-Germain, Villa have continued to do well in Europe under Emery.

## **A difficult night does not end the family tradition**

Villa were reminded of the difficulties they face against Europe’s elite.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 7th minute, and Raphinha added two in the second half. Villa had chances but couldn’t find a way past Barcelona.

William and George witnessed a disappointing result for their team.

The Prince of Wales has made it clear in the past just how important it is to him to spend such occasions with George. The pair continued the tradition by heading to Barcelona for another European away day.

George gets to feel more involved with the club during nights like this. Whilst the game against Barcelona was a tough lesson for Emery’s side, it will be another memory they will have together in their footballing journey.
