# Aston Villa receive encouraging Villa Park update as North Stand expansion takes shape

Supporters of Aston Villa have been provided with another update on Villa Park redevelopment projects. The latest drone pictures indicate good progress in the North Stand area.

The images received from CC Overview show that now the construction work has moved beyond the basis of design. Permanent components of the structure have become apparent.

New updates give us more information on how the new extended stand will be built as Aston Villa work towards increasing their stadium capacity to over 50,000.

One of the most noticeable changes is the installation of beams for the extension. This is helping to give us an idea of the size and shape of the new extension.

## **Villa Park redevelopment enters another important phase**

The latest pictures show the temporary orange framework and permanent white areas.

The orange framework is expected to be taken down when the permanent framework is secure enough. There has also been progress on the lift shafts and staircases, with more sections fitted.

The new terraces are progressing well with traditional shuttering and precast concrete being installed by the contractors.

The works also have to consider Aston Villa’s requirements on match days. The site has to be vacated several hours prior to kick off. Ensuring that Villa Park provides a safe environment for fans to enjoy watching the home games.

## **Aston Villa targeting bigger Villa Park for 2027/28 season**

The North Stand expansion forms part of a wider redevelopment plan to modernise Villa Park and increase its capacity to more than 50,000. Aston Villa confirmed the plans in April 2025, outlining their commitment to upgrading the stadium.

Once complete, the revamped North Stand will accommodate more than 12,000 supporters, almost doubling its current capacity of 6,500.

The club is also expediting the project’s development and will shut down the North Stand completely in the 2026/27 season.

This means that fans affected will be able to return to the new redeveloped stand during the 2027/28 season.

The redevelopment has also added approximately 500 square metres of new first team facilities including changing rooms, medical facilities and physiotherapy rooms.

The restoration of Villa Park carries a lot of importance because the venue will be hosting the games of Euro 2028.

The latest video material shows that this project is shifting into the upcoming phases of construction. While there is much work to be done, fans can now get a better understanding of what to experience once the larger North Stand is completed.

This project is not merely about providing more seats but also about educating the fans through better match experiences and helping the club grow in the future.
