I think most can agree that Jack Grealish is a young man with a very bright future ahead of him. The Birmingham-born youngster has impressed every time he’s put on a Villa shirt. He possesses pace and flair, and isn’t afraid to run at a man. For a nineteen year-old Grealish has great confidence in his ability, as we saw in Villa’s 2014 pre-season tour. He finished top goal scorer in the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens in May 2014 with six goals. Grealish’s superb efforts lead the Villan’s to win the title.
Jack has featured 10 times in the league for Villa thus far. However, it appears the winger has being nothing but an afterthought for Paul Lambert, simply a pair of fresh legs to see the game out. In the state we find ourselves in at present, this ideology isn’t acceptable. Instead of fielding a team of ‘has-beens’ such as Joe Cole, Kieran Richardson and Charles N’Zogbia, we should be looking to introduce new and promising talent to Premier League football. What do we have to lose?
It’s now evident that the younger players within the Villa ranks are becoming very disgruntled with the manager. Jack Grealish was of course fined for airing his frustration on twitter, he posted ‘Can’t wait to be happy playing football again.’ Striker Callum Robinson has also voiced his discontent by requesting a temporary move away from Villa Park. Robinson was successful in his appeal and has recently completed a loan deal back to Preston North End, where he impressed heavily at the start of this season.
So, what is now best for young Jack Grealish? A loan move to Nottingham Forest in January appeared almost definite, however FFP (Financial Fair Play) prevented a deal from taking place. Grealish’s previous visit to the city was very successful, as his time with Notts County allowed the skilful winger to showcase his talents. The Villa number 40 scored five goals and made seven assists in 38 appearances at Meadow Lane, an impressive record for an eighteen year-old away from home. With the recent signings of Carles Gil and Scott Sinclair, along with Lambert’s negative footballing mentality, Jack’s place in the current Villa squad is now in question. Therefore, is a permanent departure what Jack Grealish’s career needs? At this moment in time, I don’t believe it is. I think we should be looking to loan Jack out on a season-long stint with a solid Championship club such as Nottingham Forest. This prospect looks likely to happen this summer, as the Birmingham Mail have recently reported that there is long list of Championship clubs (Bournemouth, Wolves, Ipswich, Brighton, Brentford and Nottingham Forest) who are interested in the nineteen year-old.
What do you think is the right move for Grealish? Let us know your thoughts on twitter @TheVillansVoice.
