Tim Sherwood revealed yesterday after the gutting 4-0 loss against Arsenal in the FA Cup Final that some players have been given their marching orders this summer, being told to find a new club – who are these players Tim Sherwood is on about?
This is Read Aston Villa view, on who could be leaving this year.
Brad Guzan has been seen as a liability in goal this season under Lambert and at points under Sherwood, his mistake against Manchester City saw Sherwood take the option of 39 year old, Shay Given. The 30 year old has appeared 116 for Aston Villa.
Andreas Weimann has tailed off after his positive development under McLeish, which was carried on by Paul Lambert. However, this season he has been very poor – compared to a butterfly in a hurricane, a lot of movement but not much awareness and great decision making.
Joe Cole, seemingly forever injured. Disappointing the signing was sanctioned.
Philippe Senderos has never appeared under Sherwood, the experienced Swiss isn’t in the plans of Sherwood.
Aly Cissokho seemed like a sensible signing under Lambert, but has looked slow in his short time at the club, also to susceptible to injury. The desire of a player with such a journeyman CV is something Sherwood wont like.
Carles Gil seemed to join Villa at the wrong time, he looked positive under Lambert – but the Spanish playmaker seems to have been at loggerheads with Sherwood. Tim Sherwood likes players that will put a shift in and fight for places, it seems that Gil feels a sense of entitlement to his place in a team and his days could be numbered.
