Sky Sports have reported that former Manchester City right back is on his way to Villa park after being released.
The 26 year old has been offered what is understood to be £65k per week at Villa and rejected a higher offer from Sunderland after a conversation with Tim Sherwood, according to reports.
The England international has said his thanks to Man City staff and fans on Instagram earlier yesterday, somewhat confirming the move away from Manchester.
This is understood to be the first of a long list Tim Sherwood wants to bring in to Villa park to help take the club back up into the upper echelons of the league, with the full back positions being problematic with Hutton aging and of questionable quality and Matt Lowton, reportedly heading to Norwich.
The deal will be finished by the end of the week according to reports, with medicals understood to be taking place as early as yesterday.
