Aston Villa have completed the signing of England defender Micah Richards on a four year contract.
Richards, Birmingham born has joined Aston Villa on a free transfer after being released by Manchester City, he also rejected an offer from Sunderland to join after having a conversation with manager Tim Sherwood according to reports.
Richards will be seen as a coup for Aston Villa who have scraped relegation 3 seasons in a row.
“I’m really pleased to get Micah on board and I’m sure he will prove to be an excellent signing for the football club.” Tim Sherwood said, speaking to avfc.co.uk
The deal comes a day after Micah’s medical was complete.
This is the start of Sherwood hoping to thrash out a new and competitive squad for the season up ahead, stating that Villa needed “winners” in the team.
The Guardian reported that he will be given the chance to develop as a center-back at Aston Villa.
