Liverpool are expected to make a Β£25m bid for Villa forward and Belgium star Christian Benteke today according to David Maddock of The Daily Mirror.
The bid would come as no surprise to Tom Fox and Tim Sherwood, as Liverpool have been interested in the Striker for a period of time now, with Villa reportedly already rejecting a Β£22m approach earlier in the summer for the player.
The saga rumbles on and tests Villa’s resolve of sticking to the asking price of Β£32.5m, Christian Benteke’s contractual release clause.
Benteke’s agent however stated in a prank call from a Villa fan pretending to be Brendan Rodgers that he would do “all in his power, legally” to allow Benteke to leave Aston Villa and join a team competing for European Football – despite his weighty release clause.
Β It isn’t the first time Christian Benteke and his team have tried to manufacture a move away from Villa Park – so this comes as no surprise, however it is fair to say that if he does leave Villa will get a hefty profit from any deal.
