Two of Villa’s opening games in the 2015/16 season have been moved for TV coverage in August and September.
Tim Sherwood’s opening home match with Man Utd will now take place on Friday August 14, with a 7.45pm kick-off. This game being the first game Sky Sports will show on the new Friday night slot. This has been moved due to a planned EDL march in the City centre on the Saturday.
Last season Villa ran Man United ragged in the home encounter drawing 1-1 in December. In April though Villa were outclassed in the reverse fixture where Sherwood’s side went down to the Red Devils 3-1.
Furthermore, the second game moved to be shown on Sky Sports will be the away game with Leicester City on Sunday 13th September at 4pm.
Last season saw Villa play Leicester three times. Including a fiery encounter at the King Power Stadium in January where Matty James and Ciaran Clark were sent off as Leicester won 1-0. Villa had previously beat the Foxes 2-1 thanks to goals from Hutton and Clark. The other meeting saw Villa beat the East Midlands side 2-1 in the FA Cup just after Sherwood was appointed as Villa manager.
