As the new kits for the upcoming 2015/2016 are released this Tuesday, we at the Villans Voice decided to look at our favourite kits from the previous 15 years, there are some incredible looking kit’s in our countdown, but also plenty of hideous ones. Why not think of the most hideous ones as you read through the best ones?
5- Home Kit 2007-2008
The home kit from the first year of the Nike partnership was classy and elegant. They moved away from the garish design features which had graced our kits from Hummel for the previous 3 seasons and went back to basics. It was also the first time our new revised badge was to be used. The shirt was kept simple with the usual claret body and blue sleeves, with the only extra design features being a blue collar and a small claret trim on the sleeves. The rest of the kit was also kept simple with an incredibly thin claret hoop on the shorts and light blue socks. The only potential downside to this kit was the ugly looking sponsor logo (32Red) having to be incorporated onto the shirt.

4- Away Kit 2010-2011
The first away kit for the post Martin O’Neill era moved away from the traditional Villa away colours of white and yellow for the second time in 3 seasons after the sky blue away kit from 2008-2009. The kit was black, with a checkerboard claret and blue design down the side of the body of the shirt with black shorts and socks. The design was different, yet still looked good and was arguably the second best away kit Nike supplied us with during their five years.

3- Home Kit 2011-2012
The home kit for the failed Mcleish era and what was to be the final year of Nike being our kit supplier would be different from kit’s before. It featured a chequered claret pattern across the body of the shirt with white shorts and black socks. It certainly divided opinion amongst Villa fans but I thought whilst be different it worked and looked as good as the classic clean home kits that Nike had produced for us previously.

2- Away Kit- 2014-2015
The season just gone was a forgettable one for Villa. But the effort by Macron for the away kit, is a memorable one and is a reminder of the club’s most successful night in it’s long history. The kit, which draws inspiration from the away kit which was worn in the 1982 European Cup final had a white body with claret pinstripes from the top to the bottom of the shirt with claret shorts and white and claret hooped socks. Villa released some interesting promotional shots last season too…

1-Away Kit- 2009-2010
And our number 1 is the 2009-2010 Nike away kit. This white away kit, which was worn during our most successful year in a long time was a great design by Nike. The shirt of the kit was mainly white, but with a navy blue collar and a different gradient of blue used as stripes on half of the shirt made sure it looked incredibly elegant and classy. The design was created in order to celebrate our long time held achievement of supplying the most players to the England national team. The kit which was complemented by navy shorts and white socks was a memorable design and a great looking kit.
