In a stunning turn of events, Fabian Delph looks let to become a Manchester City player after a fee was agreed between us and the Citizens earlier today – according to Manchester Evening News.
City have thought to have once again triggered Delph’s £8m release clause, and look set to complete the signing later today.
Fabian initially said he was staying at Villa after seeking advice from team-mate and ex City player Micah Richards on his potential transfer. However, the 25 year old has now made a U-turn on the issue after being spotted having a medical in Manchester.
The potential transfer was thought to have died out after The Blues completed the transfer of Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling.
Yet with City manager Manuel Pellegrini still looking to bolster his midfield, and looking for the magic number of 8 home grown players for next seasons Champions League Delph looked to still be a target for the Chilean boss.
Villa gaffer Tim Sherwood originally hailed Delph’s decision to stay at Villa Park citing that he “saved them from relegation.”
Yet the recent twist in events will come as a bitter blow to Sherwood, who has now potentially lost Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke in the space of a few days.
Fabian Delph to #mcfc is back on. Definitely. Unless he changes his mind again!
