Papa Moussa Konate the Senegalese international has been linked with a move to Aston Villa this week and fans may be interested into why Tim Sherwood is intrigued by the centre forward. Moussa Kanote is currently playing in the swiss super league for his club FC Sion in which last season he scored an impressive 21 goals in 33 appearances. The Mbour born striker can play on the wing as well as up front, Sherwood at this time may be looking for future replacements for rumour favourite Christian Benteke.
For country Senegal, Konate has scored 4 goals in 9 appearances, however before Villa fans become too enthusiastic it must be said that in the past the 22-year-old has found it difficult to find the net. For his second club. Maccabi Tel Aviv he appeared 38 times and struggled to score only 7 goals and for his fourth club Genoa (in which he was on loan from FK Krasnodar) he played 26 times only finding the net once.
Nevertheless I think something to take into account about the players previous struggles would be his age, he is only 22 and has already played professionally for four different sides in four completely different parts of the world, Israel, Russia, Italy and Switzerland all tough places to perform yet he has made plenty of appearances for each club.
Moussa himself looks strong, has pace, looks to get into the box whenever he can and has a good ability when moving the ball around, which if he moved to England could be an exciting skill set to watch.
If Moussa Konate joins the Villa the price will have to be right Konate is currently valued at around £3.5 million but agent Athole Still and club FC Sion will be probably looking to sell their player for a bit more after a terrific 14/15 season. Aston Villa fans should be hoping they can land the impressive striker and hope that last years impressive goals tally wasn’t just a flash in the pan but a sign of things to come.
