Our second signing of the day and somewhat of a french revolution is hitting Villa Park – with French-Born Striker Rudy Gestede signing for Aston Villa on a 5-year-deal.
The Benin international has reportedly cost Villa £6m from Blackburn Rovers, according to the Birmingham Mail.
A deal was helped across the line thanks to Blackburn having to sell under pressure due to FFP restrictions, with some Blackburn fans calling the deal a coup for Villa.
Gestede, 26, has played 6 games for Benin and scored 3 and during his time at Blackburn the Former FC Metz man scored 32 in 60 after signing for around £200k from Cardiff.
Gestede’s ability of holding up the ball and being a threat in the air has given him a early nick name of “The Benin Benteke” by some fans who all see how important it is to replace the outgoing Belgium.
Gestede joins Villa, with Emmanuel Adebayor expected to follow.
