Former AS Monaco man Dimitar Berbatov has been linked to Villa throughout the summer, with story’s suggesting talks have taken place – but now Aston Villa Legend Stiliyan Petrov has confirmed the two parties have spoke to each other about a move to Villa Park.
Dimitar Berbatov is currently a free agent after his contract with AS Monaco expired over the summer and is said to be looking for a last big challenge, Petrov told Bulgarian media that Berbatov is keen on the move and ready to fly to England should Villa want the move to go ahead.
It is understood though that with a Emmanuel Adebayor looking to complete a loan move to Aston Villa early this week, that Berbatov’s move could be halted.
Berbatov was Man Utd record signing in 2008 costing just over £30m, before moving to Fulham and shortly after that – AS Monaco.
Berbatov has scored 275 in 630 throughout his career.
