Aly Cissokho has been loaned out to his former club FC Porto for this season. The left-back has struggled with life in the Premier League at Aston Villa and at his previous Premier League club Liverpool.
The 27-year-old played 26 times last season while struggling with injury, in a season where he lost his place toward the beginning of Tim Sherwood’s reign as manager to Kieran Richardson.
The French left-back rejoins his former-team FC Porto with a variation of rumours suggesting there is no permanent deal in the offing once the loan spell ends to others suggesting a permanent deal looks likely in a years time. Villa paid around £1.5m last summer for Cissokho and are expected to try and cut their losses – especially with the acquisition of Jordan Amavi.
Aly Cissokho managed to get a French cap in his career but has never managed to build upon that since 2010, and a move back to FC Porto could help.
Everyone at Read Aston Villa would like to wish Aly Cissokho the best of luck in the future.
