Villa Have Got To Improve In Defence – Louie Littlewood
Two poorly defended goals were conceded against Crystal Palace today, one from a corner, where Scott Dann power above Ciaran Clark in the air and headed the ball home. The second goal Jordan Amavi made a poor mistake and lost the ball for Palace to break – Bakery Sako, to finishing coolly.
It was a disappointing second half from Villa, and Palace always looked like they were going to score. Tim Sherwood did mention earlier in the week that he was interested in bringing in another centre-half. You can only see him stepping up his interest for one, after a shaky performance from Villa‘s defence today.
Adama Traore Looks The Bee’s Knees – Louie Littlewood
Last week, Adama Traore, joined Aston Villa from Barcelona. for €12million. It was an exciting signing for the Villans.
It came as a shock to see Traore with Tim Sherwood saying this week ” I just want to make everyone aware that he realises he is here the long-term future and not necessarily just for this season or next week.” This indicated that Sherwood did not look like he was going to fire him straight into the first-team. But, the 19-year old came on with 20 minutes to go with Carlos Sanchez being replaced.
Traore made an instant impact – one that he would of dreamt of the night before. A mazy run from the youngster then led to the ball pinging off the Palace left-back, Souare into the net to make it 1-1. The brilliant charging run that provided the equaliser is perhaps a small taste of what the former-Spain youth international can do in a Villa shirt.
Agbonlahor Doesn’t Cut It – Matt Lynch
The negativity towards Agbonlahor has got louder and louder as the seasons have gone on with the Villa academy graduate getting a fair share of stick for his role in the Villa side. It is certainly justifiable with the 28-year old was a passenger vs Bournemouth; a passenger vs Manchester United and again today against Crystal Palace he was a passenger.
The forward/winger, wherever you want to say he plays, simply does not cut it in the Premier League anymore. Agbonlahor looks disinterested and even disorientated. His crosses are fruitless. He struggles to get past his first man. Once in a game he may jog back and dig in. He simply isn’t good enough for a starting role.
Carlos Sanchez Has Come On Leaps and Bounds – Matt Lynch
Carlos Sanchez looked ten times the player he was last season. The midfielder was commanding in midfield and often held the shape that Veretout hasn’t offered in his first two starts. The former Elche man was a key figure in midfield.
Quiet and industrious in midfield, the Colombian was very unfortunate to be subbed by Tim Sherwood.
