Tonight, Aston Villa are host to Notts County in the second round of the League Cup. Villa will be hoping to get back on track after losing their last two games. Villa were knocked out of the League Cup at this stage last year, losing at home to Leyton Orient.
But now to the team news and we start off with the home team-
Aston Villa
Tim Sherwood is likely to ring the changes for this one, with Mark Bunn likely to replace Brad Guzan as Jed Steer played last night for the U21’s meaning he is incredibly unlikely to play tonight.
In defence, captain Micah Richards is likely to be rested but Jores Okore and Jose Angel Crespo are still both injured and therefore unavailable.
Attacking midfielder Jack Grealish, who spent time on loan at Notts County during the 2013-2014 season is likely to start as he continues to build up match fitness, having made his comeback against Crystal Palace. New signing Adama Traore, who made an instant impact at the weekend as his cross resulted in a Crystal Palace defender putting into his own net is likely to be given a chance to impress from the start.
Rudy Gestede is also likely to be given another start as he looks to build his match fitness after making his full debut at the weekend.
Notts County
Notts County boss Ricardo Moniz has made clear that he is coming to Villa Park to upset the odds and will therefore be wanting to send out a full strength team.
Ex Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll is likely to start in goal for the Magpies whilst Scot Bennett and Blair Adams are likely to start in defence.
In midfield, we see the return of one our ex academy players. Graham Burke, who rose through the academy at Bodymoor Heath and even made a first team appearance against Tranmere a few seasons ago is now plying his trade in an attacking midfield round for Notts County and will be hoping to knock his old team out of the cup.
Fellow midfielder Brian Noble is suspended for Notts County due to a red card he picked up at the weekend against Accrington Stanley and is therefore unable to play.
