Opposition View – Sunderland

Greetings from Read Sunderland! I’m Chris Sparks, and I am here to inform all you Aston Villa fans of what to expect when you host the Black Cats this weekend.

What Can you Expect from Sunderland:

On the back of a cup scare and our first point of the season, Sunderland are in a limbo period at present, with 11 goals conceded in four games a horrific return for a team at this level, and Dick Advocaat is aware and eager to swiftly change their defensive fortunes. On the other hand, Sunderland have scored in every game so far, with Jermain Defoe scoring 5 goals in 4 games this campaign. This game should see Sunderland attacking quite a lot, with it being a case of who can score the most as neither side are the most convincing in defence.

Key Player: Jermain Defoe

The England striker has started the season with a bang, scoring five goals in four games for a struggling Sunderland side. Defoe is deadly, and only needs half a chance to score and Micah Richards and co will need to be alert this coming Saturday. With the creativity of Jeremain Lens on the wing, Defoe is thriving and through these two players is where the Black Cats are most likely to gain something from the match.

Predicted Line-up:

I can’t see Advocaat changing his team this weekend, he has little to choose from as it is, and this team showed fighting spirit last week against Swansea.

Pantilimon; Jones, Coates, O’Shea, Van Aanholt, Cattermole, M’Vila, Rodwell, Defoe, Graham, Lens

Read Sunderland‘s Prediction:

Aston Villa 2-2 Sunderland

Two evenly matched teams with a lot to play for, Sunderland will be desperate to get their first win of the season, whilst Villa are looking to build some momentum. I think there will be a few goals, but I can’t see Sunderland losing and I think it will end a score-draw. I back Villa to come from behind to grab a late point with Defoe getting himself on the scoresheet yet again.
