Tim Sherwood has spoken to the press this morning ahead of Aston Villa’s weekend clash with Sunderland. He spoke about a variety of matters including an illness that has swept through the side.
On Team News…
Sherwood explained that ‘a couple of players’ have been struck by an illness over the past few days, but he was ‘hoping’ they would be fit for the game against the Black Cats on Saturday.
On Traore and his injury
The manager described Adama Traore as been ‘very level headed’ and that he is ‘nursing’ an injury after he was subbed in Villa’s 5-3 victory over Notts County in the League Cup on Tuesday night. He said that the club would ‘give him every opportunity’ to get back to his full fitness.
Sherwood went on to call Traore a ‘massive talent’ and that it would ‘take time’ so he wants to ‘dampen down’ expectations as he explained ‘he is just a 19-year old boy’
On Tactics For Sunderland
“We want to take the game to Sunderland” this indicating the Villa boss plans to go out attacking against the Black Cats.
On Winning And Losing
Villa’s manager has showed great level headedness since arriving at Villa Park in February. He said in his press conference that he was ‘imposing’ on the squad that defeats cannot be taken ‘too strongly’ and that he didn’t want the side to ‘get too ecstatic’ when they win.
On The Upcoming Derbies
“It’s a real great period after the international break – Leicester, West Brom and Birmingham. I love derbies.”
